All About Volunteering!

Volunteer engagement is centered in our advocacy and public affairs work. Our volunteers work with Planned Parenthood Association of Utah (PPAU) supporting our outreach in the community through community events and tabling primarily in Salt Lake County. Volunteers also work with Planned Parenthood Action Council (PPAC) of Utah to lift up our advocacy work and help elect politicians who stand with Planned Parenthood and work to protect our reproductive rights.

Here in Utah we do not utilize volunteers in our health centers in any clinical capacity. While volunteers do share information about the health care services and education programs at PPAU, we do not train our volunteers to offer health advice and ask that volunteers always direct people to our health center, call center, or website for information.

Volunteer opportunities include:
- Community outreach tabling at events (farmers markets, fairs, festivals, concerts, fundraisers, etc.).
- Advocacy work in the community which can include canvassing, phone banking, rallies, demonstrations, and other events.
- Special event staff (set up, clean up, host, registration, etc.).
- Administrative office help (data entry, button making, office organization, event preparation).
- At times we have opportunities to engage from home--making safe-sex kits and/or buttons, for example.
- Volunteer events
- Engaging with opportunities available through our Public Affairs programs

While there are several volunteer opportunities that pop up over the course of the year, our highest priority engagement is usually assembling safe sex kits and tabling at outreach events.

Expectations of volunteers include:

Suggested sign up of 1 shift per month
